Chatting With the Hamilton Chamber of Commerce — I Chide Them for Not Including Me in Their Debate
October 9, 2026. This morning I chatted with Drina Omazic of the Hamilton Chamber of Commerce. She explained the concerns and priorities of the Chamber which has about 1,000 members. I let her know in no uncertain terms I was slighted by not being included in their September debate, which featured the current mayor and only two other candidates Loomis and Cooper.
She explained the Chamber’s support for two proposed AI centres which will be small and research oriented. I’ve expressed opposition to building AI centres within city limits. Large ones should be built in rural areas, I contend. The project is now subject to a two year moratorium. I might be persuaded if the two proposed structures, which are to be research facilities, conform to current requirements.
We agreed that municipal taxes are far too high and that Hamilton’s roads are neglected and shambolic.
