You Have My Vote” — I Heard It in Dundas, in Waterdown and Ancaster Today
“You Have My Vote” — I Heard It in Dundas, in Waterdown and Ancaster Today, not from everyone, of course. This was a hectic day of canvassing in downtown Dundas and Waterdown. Dundas was unusual. Most people responded to my “Fix the roads!”. Andrea Horwath walked by. Oh, no kind greeting from “her Worship.” Then, there was the Dundas Dog Walker With His Jackass voice> He kept rushing by hollering “Not on my watch. Not in my town,” at my canvas co-ordinator and me. He rushed ahead and was telling people not to accept my leaflet. Luckily, that just made them curious. At one point, he was so agitated he let one of his dogs wander into the street, where the pooch nearly got run over. Another man smacked my friend’s hand, knocking the leaflet to the ground, and said: “I don’t want it.” While I was stopped at an ATM in Ancaster, a man eagerly took by leaflet and said I was wrong that Hamilton’s roads had been deteriorating for the past 10 years. “No, the city has been going to hell for 40 years.” Two men, customers at Tim Horton’s praised me for my Red Ensign button, and said they didn’t believe the media smear that was done on me early in the campaign. They shook my hand and stated: “You have our vote.” Finished the day by blitzing an apartment building.
