As Mayor, I would be eager to take a seat on the Hamilton Police Service Board.

2. What is your plan to ensure police services in our community have the staffing levels needed to guarantee timely response and reduce member burnout?

?I believe in a suitable increase in the police budget. I was impressed with the information you provided. This should be communicated more forcefully to the public. In return for this funding, I would like to see more aggressive enforcement in the deteriorating downtown area — open injection of drug. I don’t want to see police violating the right to free speech or assembly by harassing venue owners when a controversial group wishes to hold a meeting. The Chief calling the Dominion Society “divisive” is outrageous. Any controversial political stand can be seen as “divisive.” We do not need a political police..

3. How will you work with the Police Services Board to provide accessible, effective mental health resources for local police personnel?
Provide the necessary funding.

4. Will you commit to sustainable funding for police recruitment, retention, and operational support?Yes

ongoing staffing shortages?
I would forcefully use the talking points your letter has provided and ask that the Hamilton Police provide witnesses or spokemen to emphasize this point.

Question not ask, but I am utterly opposed to”defund the police” calls.
